Aim of Research: To clarify the mechanisms of immune regulation‚ focusing on the NKT cells
The aim of our study is to clarify the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the regulation of immune responses‚ focusing on NKT cells. NKT cells are known to have intermediary function that forms a link between the innate and acquired immune systems and to mediate adjuvant activity in the protective immune responses. Since the multifunctional NKT cells have been implicated in cancer‚ infectious diseases and allergic diseases‚ it is feasible that the development of new immunotherapies should be aimed at the control of the NKT cell functions.
