Aim of Research: Development of new dendritic cell- and mast cell-based immunomodulatory strategies for immune cell-mediated skin diseases and skin cancers
Our research aims are: 1) to gain new insights into understanding roles of two important types of cells in the immune system (i.e.‚ dendritic cells and mast cells) in the pathogenesis of inflammatory‚ allergic and immune skin diseases and in the progression and prevention of skin cancer and metastasis‚ 2) to test new immunomodulatory interventions targeting those two cell types for the improvement of the above diseases in animals and 3) to apply this new knowledge for the overall benefit of human health. Current research targets include inflammasomes‚ osteopontin and gap junction inhibitors. We continuously provide supervision to young investigators to accomplish individual goals.
